Perl Developer

CCBill is an online payment services provider used by more than 30,000 websites globally that supports the needs of both new and established businesses in the ecommerce and online space. Typical projects on the CCBill side include integration with new processors, improving reporting, and enhancement of systems that can handle high volume transactions with high availability over 3 satellites in Phoenix, Ashburn and the Netherlands. You will have the opportunity to work on both existing and new products and features. 

 

The Perl Developer is responsible for maintaining code and applying upgrades for CCBill’s existing product lines. He/she will work under the guidance of a Team Lead and alongside Software Developers and Software Testers to provide the highest quality software.

 

Due to the nature of the role, the Perl Developer must be a good team player and communicator, have very strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, be driven towards learning about and contributing to our in-house systems and partner technologies, be driven towards ensuring the health of our production systems, and strive to maximize customer satisfaction.

 

Location: Malta/Serbia/Remote (+/-3 hours CET) 

Working hours: 40h/week, Monday-Friday 

Key Job Requirements

 

  • Extensive understanding and experience with core programming languages.
  • Proficient with Linux operating systems.
  • Maintaining existing codebases and applying upgrades to existing product lines.
  •  Constant learning of all existing product lines and updating documentation with new updates. 
  • Developing tools to enhance maintenance for infrastructure issues.
  • Coordinating with Software Testers and the Software Engineering Team Lead to implement code modifications that maintain operational continuity. 
  •  Interacting with the Software Engineering Team Lead to ensure all goals are completed on time.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Possess a university degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of programming concepts and best practices.
  • Excellent programming skills in PERL with 3-5 years of experience in object-oriented programming.
  • Good knowledge of the principles of operation of the Common Gateway Interface (CGI).
  • Familiarity with CPAN modules and PERL frameworks like DBI, PSGI/Plack.
  • Strong understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
  • Excellent skills using Linux and the VI editor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnosing system issues.
  • Experience with RDBMS (MySQL preferred) and ORM technologies.
  • Experience using an IDE, such as Visual Studio Code/Eclipse/NetBeans/IntelliJ.
  • A high degree of flexibility and creativity.
  • Ability to work in and embrace a team environment.
