OVERVIEW
We’re looking for a mission-minded data & insights expert to join our Innovation Lab’s Product R&D team, a fast-moving, cross-functional group focused on building AskCR. Your role will blend program management, product operations, and data strategy to help deliver the best of CR’s product expertise to our members.
AskCR is a pro-consumer, expert-backed AI that offers advice using CR’s trusted information. We are one of the only AI-powered experiences backed by over 100 human experts, and incentivized to deliver on a pro-consumer mission.
As the Data Operations Analyst on the AskCR team, you’ll play a key role in tuning and scaling an AI product grounded in institutional integrity and human expertise. You’ll create workflows and internal tools that spark a two-way feedback loop between CR’s experts and CR’s audience–transforming expert insights into AI recalibrations and user insights into guidance for our researchers and journalists.
Your work will ensure AskCR remains accurate, transparent, and worthy of trust as it grows. It’s a rare opportunity to work on a live, in-market, purpose-driven product connecting dots between users, experts, and product teams.
This is a remote position and is not eligible for sponsorship.
How You’ll Make An Impact
As a Data Operations Analyst focused on AskCR, you will:
- Operate and evolve the two-way feedback systems that connect CR’s human experts and AskCR users via AI.
- Analyze product usage, user messages, and expert contributions to surface trends, gaps, and system improvement opportunities.
- Design dashboards and configure reports that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights across product, engineering, and content teams.
- Define, track, and communicate key program metrics such as expert contributions, content coverage, and answer effectiveness.
- Support trust & safety operations, monitoring conversations and escalating policy or quality concerns.
- Maintain clear documentation and identify opportunities to automate and streamline core workflows.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll Be Highly Rated If:
- You have the experience. 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, data operations, or a related role in tech or research settings.
- You know the tools of the trade. Strong proficiency with SQL read queries, spreadsheets (Google Sheets/Excel), dashboard tools (e.g., Databricks, Adobe, GA).

- You are metrics-driven. You are skilled at defining, tracking, and communicating program-level metrics.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills across different levels of technical audiences.
- You bring a systems mindset and a high comfort level navigating ambiguity.
You’ll Be One of Our Top Picks If:
- You have experience working with human-in-the-loop systems, conversational AI, or chat-based products.
- You have a passion for using AI tools in either a consumer or enterprise setting– and understanding their strengths and limitations in practice.
